Headed by Dr. Mahmoud al-Irk, Mother Syria Assembly (MSA) delegation on 20/08/2016 visited the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus, and was welcomed by Ambassador Riyad Hassan al-Taie.
Dr. al-Irk talked about MSA’s objectives , stressing its leading role in the making of future Syria, and Syrian-Iraqi brotherly and fraternal, and that , like Syria Iraq suffers from terrorism.
For his part, Ambassador Taie said that, the same as Syria, Iraq is facing organized terrorism, and that Iraq, as an active member in Syria’s support group , is making all efforts to preserve Syria’s territorial integrity and Iraq will not give up that goal nor serving the interests of the Syrian people.
The ambassador stressed Iraq ‘s clear and frank position of non-interference in the internal affairs of Syria, and in supporting inter-Syrian dialogue, and all UN resolutions that serve solving the Syrian crisis.
He added that the Syrian opposition must play its due role, and that its problem lies in being dispersed in terms of views ,thought and perspectives, noting the importance of uniting the opposition views and attitudes that serve Syria’s unity, noting that such an approach was experienced by Iraq, where there are about 60 political and party groups.
He emphasized the political solution for the Syrian crisis, and the need to implement relevant UN resolutions and practical programs to this end , according to those resolutions , and proposals of the UN special envoy to Syria.
MSA President gave the ambassador MSA’s shield as an expression of feelings fraternity and respect for Iraq and the Iraqi people.
