During the meeting on Tuesday, 25 April between a delegation representing Mother Syria Assembly (MSA) and the Secretary-General of the Arab Socialist Union Party Dr. Safwan al-Qudsi , MSA President Dr. Mahmoud al-Irk, spoke about MSA objectives and principles, including ideas embodied in MSA founding statement on the future of a” new Syria” , in the sense , to study the imbalance in Syria and the factors that led to the current conditions , and to be frank and honest with ourselves and with the other, to diagnose the situation and find treatment.
Dr. al-Irk gave examples on events and activities carried by the economic, political, cultural, medical, family committees of MSA advisory body, noting “we are not a political party or an association, and MSA comprises Baath Party members, communists, independents, etc., our faith, our religion and our identity are, but Syrian par excellence ,” he said, explaining how MSA seeks to rebuild Syria and that MSA includes the elites among academics in various disciplines, and everyone is working for Syria to revive again.
In turn, Mr. Qudsi expressed admiration for MSA activities in focusing on societal issues, the causes of the crisis and in the search for solutions. He stressed that MSA should continue to implement its goals and not to submit to despair and boredom, pointing out that certain sectors in Syria need to be reformed and re-produced, such as the education and cultural sectors.
He gave a presentation on the methodology and work plans of the Arab Socialist Union Party, which was founded in 1964 and remained in secret struggle until 1970 when it was launched publicly within the framework of the Progressive National Front on 7/3/1972
