A delegation representing Mother Syria Assembly (MSA), headed by Dr. Mahmoud al-Irk visited Egypt’s embassy in Damascus on 25/08/2016 and was greeted by the Chargé d’affaires at the embassy, Mohamed Tharwat Selim.
Dr. al-Irk spoke about MSA goals and objectives, Egypt’s key role in the history of the Arab nation, the role of the Egyptian army in the Arab-Israeli wars, and the fight against terrorism, adding that the continuation of the crisis in Syria is in the interest of major world countries.
MSA President also reviewed Egypt’s position toward the Syrian crisis and relations of brotherhood binding the two brotherly countries, adding that close Egyptian-Syrian ties change international equations and attitudes towards events in the region .
Dr.al-Irk highlighted the role played by regional and international countries to perpetuate the crisis in Syria, and said that Syria, which will emerge stronger from the crisis is in need of Egypt to achieve that.
Mr. Selim, in turn, stressed the importance of MSA role and that Egypt and Syria are the two ends of the Arab nation and that Egypt is Syria’s elder sister and is supporting it in the current crisis.
He indicated that Egypt has suffered terror which claimed the life of Egyptian army and internal security forces martyrs , especially in Sinai, stressing that terrorism is dangerous and destructive for people, communities and nations.
He hoped the Syrian crisis will be eliminated , and stressed that Egypt will play a positive political role in resolving it.
