His Eminence Grand Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic, Dr. Ahmad Badr al-Din Hassoun, called on all Syrians to return to their homeland, stressing that “Syria opens its arms to all its children because it is the mother whatever her children sin , when they return , she will embrace them”
The Mufti added during his meeting with a delegation representing Mother Syria Assembly MSA headed by Dr. Mahmoud al-Irk on Thursday, September 7, that Syria will not prevail on itself except with reconciliation, which we must work for sincerely, noting that reconciliation needs frankness, dialogue and forgiveness and that we must open our hearts to forgiveness and reconciliation and each of us to take due role and assume due responsibilities against hostile schemes undermining our country , pointing out that Syria has made a quantum leap in creating dialogue between all components of the Syrian society.
Mufti Hassoun expressed admiration for MSA’s goals and aspirations, especially that MSA ‘s name reflects the mother’s magnificence in the diversity of her children and her kindness to all of them without discrimination , hoping that MSA will develop itself to remain under one umbrella and that its members would not seek authority, expressing readiness to serve MSA achieving its goals for the advancement of mother Syria.
In turn, Dr. al-Irk said that choosing MSA name is a great responsibility that reflects MSA care to represent all the characteristics of the mother, bearing the meanings of this word, in its content and thought , to be a real shield contributing to the building of the country , incubating all components and trends of society regions , as sons of one country regardless of beliefs.
“We are a group of higher studies graduates and academics , trying to provide an intellectual and scientific output as a basis for rebuilding our country on solid foundations” Dr al-Irk underlined ..
MSA president reviewed MSA activities, stressing its role as a national civic gathering that devotes Syrian citizenship to be a basis that transcends any considerations of any kind, highlighting its commitment to the principle of equality and equal opportunity, and establishing free and generous competition to achieve social advancement by participating in a genuine democratic process based on dialogue and respect of opinion .
Dr. Bahjat Akroush, MSA political advisor, pointed out MSA ‘s role as different from other civil societies , in its academics development of a real vision reflected in specialized committees that develop studies and ideal visions and a way to move professionally , noting current preparations for an economic conference under the title of good governance … in addition to communal activities and focusing on young people to contribute to the general vision for restructuring the country.
