A delegation representing MSA, led by Dr. Mahmoud al-Irk discussed on February 7, 2018, in a meeting with the minister of economy several economic issues, especially MSA first economic conference in cooperation with Damascus University on December 16 and 17/2017.
The Minister of Economy expressed admiration for the overall aspects of the conference, the addressed topics, the high level of the lecturers and the participants, and the wide media coverage the conference attained, and al-Irk presented the minister with the executive summary of the conference, including proposals and recommendations.
The minister stressed that a newly drafted investment law has been discussed with the concerned bodies headed by the government and relevant committees, will be presented to the People’s Assembly approved by September 2018, hoping that this law will achieve its set purpose.
For his part, al-Irk stressed the need to ensure necessary measures in order to achieve real investments, including safety and improving citizen’s standard of living and the supremacy of law in agreements between contractors (the investor – the state).
He also stressing the need for a clear Syrian economic identity, noting that government’s role is to manage the state’s affairs well and to promote the welfare of its citizens and their families and to ensure all forms of protection from ignorance, manipulation, fraud, exploitation.
In turn, the Minister of Economy stressed the importance of the conference in shedding light on issues that directly affect the lives of people and the concern of every Syrian citizen, stressing that the government works through the Ministry of Economy and related bodies to improve citizens’ standard of living to create all the appropriate conditions for this purpose.
He expressed optimism on the recovery of the economy, supported by important government measures that will improve the citizen standard of living during the coming period
