During her meeting with MSA President Dr. Mahmoud al-Irk, at MSA headquarters on June 20th , Ms. Nicole Machova, consul of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Damascus, expressed her country’s support for the efforts mounted by MSA all economic, social and service fields. She noted activities carried out by the Embassy in Syria In the context of the crisis in the areas of humanitarian assistance, community development and microfinance.
Mrs. Makhofa also expressed pleasure at visiting MSA headquarters and stressed readiness to adopt MSA proposed projects that serve the Syrians in light of the crisis and reviewed the projects undertaken by the Czech Republic in Syria to develop a program for small projects and kindergartens in old Damascus , noting a visit by a Czech youth delegation working in non-governmental organizations to Syria and their participation together with their young Syrian peers in volunteering activities. She referred to the humanitarian assistance provided by her government to the Syrian Red Crescent and for the rehabilitation of medical facilities in Syria.
For his part, Dr. al-Irk stressed MSA desire to benefit from the experience and relations with the Czech Republic in contributing to the reconstruction phase in Syria in the midst of the large number of programs and projects prepared for Syria, wishing the Czechs to help in to implementing these programs . He indicated the importance of providing scholarships for Syrian students, especially in the fields of chemistry, informatics, aeronautics and medicine, as the Czech Republic is a pioneer in these fields.
Dr. al-Irk said that MSA is embarking on two fold strategy : implementing projects intending the immediate phase, mainly in the service sector, and drawing future studies that will take the form of sustainability in the interest of reconstruction of the country . He invited the Czech embassy to participate in the upcoming governance conference, which will be held on August 2nd, as an area for dialogue between MSA and various active actors in society, and improving governance and policy-making
At the end of the meeting, Dr. al-Irk and Ms. Machova underlined the importance of coordination and communication between the two sides to develop future studies and adopt projects and visions that contribute to building post-crisis Syria.
